Prepare Now for the Reinsurance Fee

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, employers can take the following steps now to prepare for the approaching Reinsurance Assessment Fee deadlines:

  • Register on Pay.gov or confirm your password if you registered for the previous year (2014) of the program.
  • Collect the information needed to complete the 2015 Transitional Reinsurance Program Annual Enrollment and Contributions Submission Form. If you have chosen to receive this information from CoreSource, please note that the counts provided are based on the Snapshot Method.
  • Contact your bank to have the following identification numbers added to the approved list for payment processing: the reinsurance contribution ALC+2 number is 7505008015 and the Company Name is USDEPTHHSCMS.
  • Review your REGTAP e-mails for updates as more training sessions are scheduled.
  • Send any questions about contributions to reinsurancecontributions@cms.hhs.gov
  • Monitor the Center for Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight’s webpage: https://www.cms.gov/CCIIO/Programs-and-Initiatives/Premium-Stabilization-Programs/The-Transitional-Reinsurance-Program/Reinsurance-Contributions.html
  • Calculate your annual enrollment count using the one of the permissible counting methods. If you have chosen to receive this information from CoreSource, please note that the counts provided are based on the Snapshot Method.

Remember, whether an employer is paying the Reinsurance Assessment Fee in one or two installments, each employer must submit the 2015 form and schedule payment no later than Nov. 16, 2015 (as Nov. 15 is a Sunday). The initial payment or combined payment is due by January 15, 2016, and the 2nd payment, if applicable, is due by November 15, 2016.
